Summer is over
Freelance life is better than expected
Starting my own company
It’s exactly two months since I had my last day at Wonderful Copenhagen and around 1 and a half month since I started my own Company. I had a lot of thought about what to name my company, I didn’t want to use my Instagram name Meetmartin and Martin heiberg photography would be too limited as I also want to do some consulting, Martin Heiberg Media just didn’t sound good in my ears. At the end I just landed on… well my name and what people call me… Martin Heiberg so that is the name of my company.
I founded my company right in the middle of most Danes summer holiday. So it wasn’t befor mid August that I could begin to promote my self, but there is already some quite interesting meetings in the calendar and projects I might be part of.
There are also some non paid projects that’s already in the calendar for late September and early October.
Over all I’m very satisfied with how it’s going at the moment although I still havn’t send my first bill to a client. But that is happening very soon.
Thoughts about the future
As mentioned above I’m very confident that I’ve made the right decision by going freelance. I can feel that people actually want to work with me and acknowledge my skills. I have a lot of personal projects that I want to shoot to show the diversity and what sort of assignments I would like to get in the future.
Over the next few weeks and months I have a long list of personal projects and photo series I would like to shoot ranging from Cultural places, design studios, showrooms and eateries and places around town I want to shoot and showcase what I actually would like to shoot and get paid to shoot in the future.
summer & Holiday
With the start of September it’s also time to say goodbye to the summer, and hello to more moody weather.
This summer have been strange, beside a tragedy in the family that I won’t mention more than this, It’s been a very good summer. I followed my dream of going freelance, spending time with the love of my life and going on a mini holiday to Sweden and Ystad Saltsjöbad getting massage, swimming in the ocean, relaxing in the warm pools, eating good food, and just doing nothing with her, have been the most fantastic getaway. We are already talking about going back in November/December.
Training with a personal trainer
Right after I quit my job, I started working out with a personal trainer and so far it’s been every penny worth. I’ve become much stronger, I’m feel more healthy both mental and physical. I can see the changes and I can feel the changes. So far I’ve lost 3kg, my fat % have gone down by 3-4% and my muscle weight have gone up by 3kg. I’m actually quite proud of myself.
Yes a personal trainer is expensive as shit BUT you have to see it as an investment in yourself and not just another bill. It’s an investment in your mental health, your body and a foundation for a continuous progress in your training and yourself. I only have a few more sessions left with him, and can’t wait to see if I can keep pushing myself when I dont have a PT telling me to take one more rep or add another 5kg.
I use way to much time on Instagram, but it's there I get inspired and motivated to do better and leave my comfort zone. So I've put together a little list of photographers or photos that inspires me or are just acing it at the moment. This section of the blog will be a monthly recurring, and I'll share some of the Photographers/instagrammers that inspired me during the month. If you have any suggestions, please comment below or slide into my DM’s on instagram.
