Going Freelance

New exciting challenges and new opportunities

Leaving Wonderful Copenhagen/ VisitCopenhagen
A little over two years ago I started working at VisitCopenhagen, it was my dream job! Taking photos of and for the city I love, spending everyday on Instagram and managing a big account. Promoting and broaden the knowledge of Copenhagen as a travel destination around the world have been my daily grind for the past two - actually 3 years if I count the time I spend at VisitCopenhagen back in early 2016 as an intern. I have loved my job and I’m grateful for the opportunity I got and I’ve learned so much about the travel industry, I’ve met some amazing people and I’ve worked on some amazing projects. From the bottom of my heart thank you Wonderful Copenhagen!

But time has come and I closed this chapter to start a new one.  I’ve decided that it’s time to take some time to breath, relax and focus on personal projects. It’s time to start my own company and work as a freelance Visual Content creator and content strategist. I’m super excited for this next chapter and can’t wait to follow my dream.

If you want to drink a coffee, eat a croissant, walk around town taking photos, or talk about projects send me an email at martin@martinheiberg.com or slide into my DM’s on Instagram

Personal projects & style
Now that I’m going I finally have the time to work on all those projects and ideas for creative content that I have talked a bit about here on the blog and many many that I haven’t talked about. I have the time to focus on rebuilding my personal brand and profile again that I have (unwillingly) neglected for the past two years.

Son Of A Tailor
Back in May I was invited to visit the Son Of A Tailor pop-up shop at the PAUSTIAN store in central copenhagen to talk a bit about their concept and history. I also got to see how they make their custom fitted T-shirts. I was measured and then I followed along while my own T-shirt was made directly on the spot in Copenhagen as they moved some of their production from Portugal to Copenhagen during this campaign. It was very interesting to see how much actually goes into making a custom handmade T-shirt.

You can see a few photos here and the rest of the photos I shot can be found here.

(Re)found my love for biking
I’ve been biking much more than I ever have lately, and I really enjoy it! Over the past 5 months I’ve been biking back and forth from my apartment to my girlfriends apartment and to work instead of walking as I would normally do and now I almost can’t see myself walking from A to B anymore. I’ve always enjoyed walking and found it relaxing and my ”stress-free time” where I could just walk without being to aware of my surroundings a place where I could prepare my brain for a day of work or a place where I could free my brain from a day of work and stress. I didn’t care that it took much longer to get to where I needed to go, it was only question of time prioritizing. But now things have changed, if I don’t have my bike I quickly feel that I’m not getting to where I have to go quick enough and gets frustrated. It’s funny how our habits can change so much just by changing og being “forced” to try new things.

Instagram inspiration
I use way to much time on Instagram, but it's there I get inspired and motivated to do better and leave my comfort zone. So I've put together a little list of photographers or photos that inspires me or are just acing it at the moment. This section of the blog will be a monthly recurring, and I'll share some of the Photographers/instagrammers that inspired me during the month. If you have any suggestions, please comment below or slide into my DM’s on instagram.

This summer is going to be amazing!

Peace!
